While millions of people set out on a fitness journey every year, the reality is very few actually end up reaching their goals.
As a matter of fact, most give up before they even get started.
But not this time…
We’ve compiled a list of 7 simple things you can do that will put you on the fast track to reaching your health and fitness goals once and for all.
Get Rid of All Excuses
You want to get real results? Then stop making excuses. Make the commitment to do whatever it takes to reach your fitness goals.
Not having enough time is no longer a valid reason for not working out. All you have to do is pull out your phone, download a workout app, and get to work.
There are even apps that show you how to make healthy meals. So no more excuses!
The moment you stop making excuses is the moment you will start making progress.
Be Realistic When Setting Goals
One of the biggest reasons people fail when it comes to getting fit is because they are unrealistic with their goals.
While losing 100 pounds is a great goal to have, trying to do it in 60 days is not a realistic goal.
When setting your goals not only should they be realistic, but they should also be easily measurable. When you can easily measure your progress your chances of success greatly improve.
Find a Plan That Works For You
Just because a particular program worked for someone you know doesn’t mean it will work for you. In order to be successful this time around you must find a program that works for you.
When looking for a program you want to make sure it is something you will actually enjoy doing. If you don’t like counting points, maybe Weight Watchers isn’t the best option for you.
If you don’t like dancing chances are you won’t stick with Zumba.
Luckily the internet makes it super easy to find a program that you will actually enjoy doing. Sites such as Bodybuilding.com and Beachbody.com have a ton of really amazing fitness programs that will suit almost any schedule and any style of working out.
And don’t worry, most of the programs are beginner friendly and require you to do nothing but follow along.
Make Appointments To Workout
This may sound crazy but it is extremely important to your success. When you make an appointment with someone you are less likely to miss it.
So why not make an appointment with yourself to workout?
When you make this appointment, make sure you take it seriously. Treat it like you would treat an appointment with your doctor.
You wouldn’t miss that appointment unless you absolutely had to.
Add the appointment to your Google calendar or write it down in your journal. If you never miss an appointment to workout you will start to see results quickly.
Find a Support Group
Having someone, or a group of people, you can turn to when things get rough is a game changer. Because as you probably already know, trying to get fit can be a lonely and difficult road.
Especially if you have a million different things already going on in your life.
The right support group will help you stay focused and on track when you want to give up.
Celebrate The Small Wins
Many times we have such a big goal that we fail to stop and look at the things we are accomplishing along the way.
This is one of the biggest reasons people get so discouraged and quit after only a few days.
If you have worked out for 7 days in a row, that’s a small win that should be celebrated. If you lose 5 pounds in a month, that’s a small win.
It might not be as much as you wanted to lose, but its still getting you closer to your goal.
When celebrating small wins avoid using food as your reward. Instead you should do something like buy a new outfit or a get a new pair of shoes.
Always remember you didn’t gain the weight overnight. You therefore shouldn’t expect to lose it overnight.
It takes time to transform your body. It’s a long term commitment that you must be willing to make if you truly want to be successful.
Instead of focusing on how much weight you need to lose, focus on what you need to do right now to move closer to your goal. This helps eliminate overwhelm.
It also puts you on the fast track to success.
Try not to look at getting fit as a 12 week plan. Instead look at it as a complete lifestyle change. Because in order for you to avoid constantly going on a new diet, you must change your habits for the rest of your life.
