Did you know that how you feel about your body affects not only your confidence, but literally every aspect of your life?

Your personal value is attached to how you feel about your body. And this is why so many people, women in particular, struggle with body image.

It is also why women tend to find themselves on the never ending dieting roller coaster.

When you are constantly bombarded with picture perfect images in magazines and on the internet, being comfortable in your own skin can be very difficult.

I think it’s safe to say you already know the importance of loving yourself.

You also know that it’s a lot easier said than done.

Here are a few tips that will help you obtain a healthy body image.

Understand That No One Is Perfect

No one is perfect. Not even the models you see in the magazines and on Instagram.

As a matter of fact, many of the images you see have been altered in some way.

Before you can love yourself inside and out, you must first start with the inside.

All this means is you need to change the way you think about and view beauty.

There will always be something you don’t particularly like about your body.

However, that doesn’t mean you are any less beautiful.

And its most definitely not a reason to walk around with low self confidence.

Instead of focusing on the things you don’t like about yourself, focus your attention on the things you do like.

Its all about shifting your perspective.

Embrace Your Uniqueness 

You can’t start loving yourself on the outside until you deal with the inside.

It today’s society it is very common for people to have dangerous surgeries just so they can look like the model they follow on Instagram.

Don’t be fooled by what you see on social media.

As previously stated, many of those photos have been altered in some way.

While there are some things that you can improve about your appearance, there are also some things that you can’t change.

For example, let’s say you have less than perfect teeth, that is actually something that can be changed thanks to inventions such as Invisalign.

If however you have freckles, that is something you can’t change.

Your freckles make you uniquely you.

So why not embrace them?

There is no one else on this planet quite like you.

You are unique and you are wonderfully made.

Make Changes In a Healthy Way

If you want to lose weight and change your appearance, that is something you can certainly do.

All we ask is that you do it in a healthy way.

Sometimes people become so desperate to lose weight that they will do anything.

So people literally starve themselves just to lose weight.

That is not the way you should go about this.

Always remember losing weight takes time.

There is no magic pill that will help you drop 50 pounds in 2 weeks.

Instead of dropping your calories to some ridiculously low number, start by making small changes to your diet.

For instance, instead of drinking 3 soda’s a day, cut back to 2.

This may not sound like much, but it can have a huge impact on your overall results.

Start tracking what you eat.

Do this for 7 days. Once you see how many calories you eat per day, cut that back by 300 calories.

This will get the scale moving in the right direction.

You can even start walking 20 minutes a day.

There is no need to do anything crazy to start losing weight.

You just need to evaluate what you are currently doing and then make changes.

The Importance of Passing On a Healthy Body Image

As crazy as this may sound, when you struggle with your body image, its more likely your children will struggle with their body image.

They watch everything that you do.

When you put yourself down in front of them, they take notice.

That’s why its so important you make a conscience effort to pass on a healthy body image to those you love.

Don’t allow the media to portray what beauty is.

Teach your children that they are beautiful just the way they are.

Allow them to be free and express themselves through the clothes they wear.

Don’t put them in a box and make them feel like they have to look, act, and be a certain way.

The biggest thing to remember is society’s view of beauty is very superficial.

Its all about having the perfect booty or the smallest waist.

If you want those things that’s fine.

Just make sure you do it because that’s what you truly want.

Not because you are trying to fit someone else’s standard of beauty.

Every morning you wake up, tell yourself “I am beautiful and I deserve to live the life I want”.

You may not believe it at first.

But if you keep saying it, it will eventually become your reality.
